Privacy is key to a strong network. This guide helps you understand and customize your settings so you get exactly the communications you care about.
There are two components to privacy, Contact Info Visibility, and Subscription Settings.
Contact Info Visibility
For each network on Wavelength, you can decide whether to show your email address or phone number. If you decide to hide both results, your profile will still show up, but other members of your network will have to find your contact info in other ways. If you want to be a resource to your network, we advise you to show at least your email.
Subscriptions
Wavelength lets admins email users directly on the platform. Users can opt out of receiving this communication either in their inbox or on Wavelength. There are two types of subscriptions - network subscriptions, and universal subscriptions.
Network Subscriptions are subscriptions to generic communications from your network admins. These could include periodic organization updates, events notifications, and more. It’s your network’s primary way of communicating with you. Once you unsubscribe, you will not receive any generic email from your network’s admins and will have to log in to resubscribe. By default, network subscriptions are opt out.
Universal Subscriptions are interest based lists across all your Wavelength networks. For instance, if you are interested in receiving news and updates regarding job openings from any of your networks, subscribe to the Jobs Opening newsletter. When an admin from your network has an available job, internship, or information about one, they will send to that email list so that only interested members get an email. By default universal subscriptions are opt in, so be sure to subscribe if you are interested.
